HOW I WORK

I believe that change can take place in a number of ways, so I maintain a flexible approach when working with my clients.  My belief is that our feelings of security, healthy attachment experiences with others as adults, and a high sense of self worth, self confidence and self esteem are often times based in our early attachment experiences with our caregivers. So much of who we become is rooted in these very early experiences of self with other. I will work with you to repair many of those traumatic early experiences that may be affecting your daily life – in ways obvious to you, and in ways that are left in the unconscious, yet still expressed through actions, feelings, relationship patterns and behaviors in daily life.

I also will be able to help you address situational problems that come up in daily life - work related problems, relationship stress and conflict, grief and loss, parent child issues, issues of change and adjustment to change.

I can also help you sort out and begin to address symptoms of anxiety, depression, complex PTSD, bipolar II, and more complex problems that you might be facing.

Much of my work is trauma informed. I am a traditional psychoanalytic psychotherapist, and I also work within the mindfulness model, Internal Family Systems, CBT, hypnotherapy and guided meditations. I also offer energy healing sessions, combined with hypnotherapy. Please contact me to inquire about these unique healing alternatives.

Long term therapy is one or more weekly sessions that can 6 months to a year or more. This type of therapy is best for those with long standing issues, perhaps related to a painful childhood, early developmental trauma, and you are experiencing a level of distress in daily life that is moderate to severe.

Short term therapy can last from 1 to six months and is the treatment choice for situational problems - job stress, grief, relationship issues, divorce, or other stressors.
